What Is SaaS? Here’s What You Need To Know.

If I had to guess, I’d say you probably use the internet every day at work, and you need software to keep track of your tasks, emails, and customer interactions. Even if none of this applies to you, I assume you have a Netflix account and enjoy watching your favorite movies and series without having to pay for each one separately.

Well, SaaS is present in both of the scenarios above. And today I’m going to show you that this concept is more present than you might think in your daily life.

If this is your first time hearing about SaaS, or if you already know it in general, but still have questions, stay with us. Today you will learn in a clear, simple and objective manner, what this concept is and what its main benefits are.

What is SaaS?

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a cloud provider hosts features and delivers them over the internet, as a service.

Instead of purchasing and installing software on a device, the user accesses the services and features they require via the internet.

In this model, the user’s only responsibility is to use the service, while the provider is in charge of security, performance, and improvement.

What is SaaS

There are some free services in this model, but most paid services charge a monthly fee or an annual package that grants access to the software as long as you keep your account active.

But what are the most important advantages of using SaaS software in your daily life? Let’s talk about it a bit more.

Easy To Access

The SaaS model gives users a lot of flexibility, since they can access it from anywhere and at any time as long as they have an internet-connected device.

It is important to note that for businesses, this is one of the most significant benefits, allowing their employees to access the software for work even when working from home.

Cost Reduction

You don’t have to worry about infrastructure or servers when you use SaaS software. You only need to pay a monthly fee to gain access to everything.

Free Updates

SaaS companies are always working to improve functionality and fix possible bugs. You don’t have to pay any extra money to get access to software improvements.

Concept of Saas

SaaS companies are constantly working to improve features, and you don’t have to pay any additional fees to enjoy software updates.

Free Trial

It is common for SaaS companies, such as the FanHero platform, to offer free trial periods in order for the user to get familiar with its tools and features.

Security and Backup

In the SaaS format, the security of your information is up to the company, which works tirelessly to ensure that your account is only accessed by users who have the necessary permission.

Another point to consider when it comes to security is backups, which ensure that your data is saved and protected in the cloud.

Related Models - IaaS & PaaS

ecause of cloud computing, all of the companies mentioned above, among others, are able to provide high-quality services in the SaaS format.

Cloud computing presumes that you do not require a server or development platform, but simply the features and benefits of these, which can be accessed remotely using software.

There are also two other service models based on cloud computing, IaaS and PaaS.

a) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is when a user contracts infrastructure services remotely rather than purchasing hardware. Memory, storage, routers, and servers are a few examples.

b) (PaaS) Platform as a Service refers to the hiring of a platform to create, modify, and optimize software and applications. Instead of investing in in-house resources, simply hire this service and your IT team will have access to a fully functional internet-based environment.

Saas - Software as service

As you have seen, the SaaS model can be game changing in hiring services, saving money and growing your business.

We also discovered that, despite their use of cloud computing, IaaS and PaaS are not the same as SaaS, and each has its own set of applications.
